Mary and Jim Bennett
Memorial Golf Tournament

The Mary and Jim Bennett Memorial Golf Tournament has proved to be a wonderful success for the Hyland Hills Foundation and its programs that support the community.

“It has gone very well,” said Scott Bennett, the son of Mary and Jim Bennett. “I believe we raised upwards of $50,000 for the Hyland Hills Foundation in 2009.”

The money will be used to fund a variety of programs, including the Be-A-Fish Learn to Swim Program, hundreds of Hyland Hills recreation scholarships and the purchase of an activity bus for Hyland Hills Park and Recreation District.

Scott said the tournament in honor of his mom and dad has grown over the past 17 years and become a bigger asset to the people in the community, adding that his parents really believed in supporting Hyland Hills.

“Like every other year, things went really smoothly and I think everyone had a great time,” he said.

Scott praised the volunteers and others who were on hand to assure a fun time. “All of those people stepping up and doing all of that for us is super cool,” he said.

He said it’s “humbling” that the tournament with his parent’s name is such a successful and positive event for the community. “I don’t think I realized when I was growing up how important this was.”

The 19th Annual Mary and Jim Bennett Memorial Golf Tournament was held on July 15th at the Golf Courses at Hyland Hills.
