Putts for a Purpose

Each year the Foundation invites students and their families from select school(s) within the Hyland Hills Park and Recreation District to participate in the Putts for a Purpose day at Adventure Golf & Raceway. Partnering with Westminster Public Schools, the school incorporates a curriculum prior to the event teaching the children about scoring, etiquette and strategy of golf. Each child that participates receives a bag of goodies. Hotdogs, pop and chips are on the menu for lunch. Participants not only get to spend a morning of fun playing miniature golf but also can get their face painted, play various games and enter a raffle to win a new bike.

Be-A-Fish

The Hyland Hills Be-A-Fish Learn to Swim Program was established in 1999 by the Hyland Hills Foundation. The goal was to find a way to teach area children the lifesaving skill of swimming - free of charge. The program has become the signature program of the Foundation and to date more than 8,000 children have taken advantage of this opportunity (over 1,000 in 2016).

The Foundation maintains the ambitious goal of providing free basic swimming lessons to every child in the Hyland Hills Park and Recreation District. Each participant attends a 2-week course of daily, 1/2 hour swim lessons taught by specially trained Hyland Hills lifeguards at Splashland, Carroll Butts or Perl Mack Aquatic Centers.

Upon completion of the program, each child receives a certificate of accomplishment, a commemorative badge and a special identification card.

Recreational Scholarships

The Hyland Hills Foundation raises funds to provide recreation scholarships to the youth that live in the Hyland Hills Park and Recreation District. These recreational scholarships are provided to low-income families who want to participate in organized sport activities such as gymnastics, football and basketball.
The goal of the scholarships is to remove the financial barrier allowing the youth of community to participate in positive and healthy activities. In the 20 year history of the Foundation we have helped more than 6,000 kids with recreational grants.

Any child, residing within the Hyland Hills Park and Recreation District boundries and qualifying for low or reduced lunch will receive aid for up to $75 per program.
